A Chinese delegation including the Former Chinese Prime Minister Zeng Peiyan arrived in the country on Thursday. The visit was in lieu of the Boao Economic Forum scheduled to be held in Colombo on Friday.
Former Prime Minister Zeng Peiyan and his 40 member delegation are scheduled to participate in the first session of the Boao Economic Forum on Friday.
China, considered to be one of the most powerful economic giants in the world and at this conference, will be discussing for the first time in Asia, their plans for the development of the Chinese Naval Transport Network as well as the ambitious Silk Road Project, intended to expand China’s global trade reach.
The conference will commence under the auspices of the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa and will be presided by senior adviser to the President, Milinda Moragoda.
