Two (2) people were killed on Friday night near Machine Patiya Junction in Sooriyawewa in an accident involving a motorcycle and a lorry.

The office of the Police Media Spokesperson said that the accident took place when a motorcycle collided onto a lorry plying from Sooriyawewa to Padangala, when the lorry took a left turn. The rider and pillion rider sustained serious injuries and died en route to hospital.

The victims have been identified as a 38-year-old father of two, and a 36-year-old father of three, both residents of Sooriyawewa.The driver of the lorry who was arrested, was produced before the Acting Magistrate of Hambantota on Saturday.
