Suspects in connection to felling of trees in a plot of land belonging to the Karuwalagaswewa Pradeshiya Sabha in the 17th mile post area have been identified.
A high-ranking official of the Karuwelgaswewa Wildlife Conservation Office stated that a labourer has been identified in connection to the incident.
The Wildlife Conservation Office began constructing a fire break to control the spread of forest fires in the Karuwelagawewa area.
While these activities were taking place, a number of trees that were in a plot of land belonging to the Karuwalagaswewa Pradeshiya Saba in the 17th mile post area were felled and cut into blocks.
The logs have been seized by the officials of the Wildlife Conservation Department, after complaints were lodged by residents.
