Police elaborate on rescue of child abducted in Galgamuwa

Dinidu Yashen Ekanayake, who was kidnapped from the Meegalawa area recently, was brought to Colombo on August 2. A media briefing was held at the Police Headquarters in connection to this kidnapping.

At the media briefing, Police Media Spokesperson Ajith Rohana elaborated on the the rescue operation.

He stated that the CID launched their investigations on July 31 and the child had been rescued within 24 hours of investigations.

“The suspect, who had contacted the parents of the child, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. on Friday in the Multhottuwa area. According to his information, three other suspects have been arrested,” he added.

The police media spokesperson further added that six police groups were deployed to investigate the incident.

The father of the child also participated at the media briefing which was held at Police Headquarters. At this occasion he extended his gratitude to the media.
