Samantha Vidyaratne has been named the group leader of the JVP for the upcoming Uva Provincial Council election.

At a media briefing held on Sunday, the JVP’s Propaganda Secretary MP Vijitha Herath, elaborated on the party’s preparations for the elections.

“Former Parliamentarian Comrade Samantha Vidyaratne, has already been named the Group Leader in the Uva Province. Former Provincial Councilor, Comrade R.M. Jayawardane, will lead the Monaragala District. Former Provincial Councilor Comrade Sudath Balagalla and Former Provincial Councilor Comrade Ramalingam, Chandrasekaran whom you all know, will both be contesting from the Badulla District. We have already appointed a nominations committee to prepare the party’s nomination list. This committee will comprise of the Party General Secretary Comrade Tilvin Silva, Comrade Lalkantha and Comrade Handunneththi, and myself as the party’s propaganda secretary.”
