The Rajarata University has been closed down until further notice.
Chairman of the University’s Students Union, Dinesh Kumara says that students were instructed to evacuate the University premises by 10.00 a.m. Friday.
The closure comes as the vice-chancellor and several members of the Academic staff at the University continue to be held hostage at the vice-chancellor’s official residence.
The situation has been ongoing since Thurday night.
Meanwhile, Students Union Chairman, Dinesh Kumara says that the vice-chancellor and the group of lecturers would be held hostage until the decision to suspend 27 students from attending lectures at the University is overturned.
