The police says four more suspects have been arrested in connection with the recent unrest in Aluthgama and Beruwala.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana says 62 suspects have been arrested in connection with the unrest, thus far.

“Four persons have been arrested by the Beruwala police in connection with the recent unrest in Aluthgama and Beruwala. After being produced before the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court, the suspects have been remanded until the 7th of next month. Twenty police teams have been deployed to conduct investigations into the incident. Investigations are continuing to act against people who acted violently and caused destruction to property. I urge the public to forward any video footage that they have on such individuals and incidents.”

Meanwhile, all schools in the Aluthgama and Beruwala Police Divisions were re-opened on Monday with the exception of nine schools.
