The Chief Prelate of the Amarapura Sect, Most Venerable Davuldena Gnanissara Thera, issued a statement on Tuesday on the recent incidents in Aluthgama and Beruwala.
In his statement, the Chief Prelate notes that the unrest that was prevalent in Beruwala and Dharga Town, Aluthgama is saddening.
He notes that as this is a country where all persons, Buddhists and all other communities should live together in harmony, without ethnic or religious divisions and that if certain incidents occur, they can be resolved through dialogue.
The chief prelate notes that there is no reason for loss of life and damage to property. He reiterates that all communities, Sinhalese, Muslim and Tamil should live together in harmony.
The chief prelate of the Amarapura Sect prays that peace will dawn through the vision of Buddhism.
