Speaking at the UN daily press briefing held on Friday,  Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, Farhan Haq noted that the UN expects Sri Lanka to cooperate with the work of the OHCHR.

A journalist questioned: “In Geneva , Sri Lanka’s Ambassador there, said in a session of the UN Human Rights Council… We reiterate the categorical rejection of the resolution and the non-cooperation of the OHCHR driven comprehensive investigation… They sort of eluded to it before, but they now said in a UN venue that they will not cooperate. And I wanted to know if there was a position and if the Secretary General intends to speak to the Rajapaksa Government, about this…”

Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary General Farhan Haq replied: “Certainly would expect cooperation with the work of the human rights bodies regarding Sri Lanka, I actually have a little bit more to say on that. I will have to share that later, I do not have it with me right now …”
