The Uva Poson Udanaya officially commenced Thursday afternoon with the arrival of the sacred hair relics of Lord Buddha.
The Uva Poson Udanaya was held in Uma Ela, Uva Paranagama Welimada. It was organized by Uva Paranagama United Buddhist Society and Newsfirst; and centered around the Sri Sudharshanaraama Purathaana Viharaya in Uma Ela, Uva Paranagama.
The sacred hair relics of Lord Buddha arrived at the Poson Zone from the Yatihalgala Rajamahaviharaya.
The procession carrying the sacred relics left the Yatihalgala temple at 6 a.m. Thursday and arrived at the Sri Sudharshanaraama Puraathana Viharaya via Nuwara Eliya.
The exposition of the relics began following religious observances.
Devotees have the opportunity to pay homage to the sacred relics until Saturday. They will also be able to witness a number of attractions including a pandol, lanterns, songs of devotion and a replica of Mihintale at the Uva Poson Udanaya.
A special screening of the film “Sri Siddhartha Gautama” will also take place at the zone, along with Newsfirst screen tests.
