Thirteen (13) individuals have been reported dead due to the inclement weather conditions.
The Police Media Unit reported that 09 persons have died due to earth slips in Kalutara and Thalangama.
Another individual has also being swept away due to the heavy showers.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Air Force said that two helicopters have been dispatched to the affected areas for search and rescue operations.
SLAF Spokesperson Wing Commander Gihan Seneviratne said that a Bell 412 and Bell 212 helicopter have thus been dispatched. The Sri Lanka Navy has also dispatched eight team on rescue operations.
Navy Spokesperson Kosala Warnakulasuriya said that several other teams are on standby. The Sri Lanka Army goes on to say that two battalions have been made ready for relief services.
Sri Lanka Army Media Director, Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera said the battalions will be dispatched as required. Meanwhile, only one track is in operation from the Ragama Train Station due to floods experienced in the area.
