Air Force helicopters dispatched to save lives in Kalutara

The Disaster Management Centre states that the Kalutara district has been severely affected by the heavy rains that were experienced on Sunday, with several persons being stranded as a result.

Two helicopters attached to the Air Force have been dispatched to rescue those stranded in Kalutara due to floods.

Air Force Spokesman, Wing Commander Gihan Seneviratne, stated that Bell 412 and 212 types of helicopters have been assigned.

Speaking to Newsfirst, Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre, Pradeep Kodippili stated that the areas of Mathugama, Agalawatte and Kalawana in the Kalutara district were experiencing floods.

He added that several people were affected as a result.
