The Sri Lanka Governance Report 2012/2013 by Transparency International focussing of the status of governance in Sri Lanka was launched at the  BMICH on Thursday.

The Governance Report is a regular report of Transparency International Sri lanka which brings into focus, key governance issues and discusses the main incidents,  trends  and best practices pertaining to governance within a given year.

Royal Norwegian Embassy Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives, Grete Lochen expressed these views;

“Good governance is a great opportunity for any government to show people of friendly execution of power. One aspect of governance is corruption -remains a great challenge for the promotion of good governance, sustainable development democracy peace and stability. When the public feels that the government is stealing from the people. It leads to the erosion of trust and confidence in public institutions.  In order to reverse this dangerous trend, public institutions need to be more open about their work. Implementing the Right to Information Act is one step in the right direction.”
