A Saudi police man donated nearly75 per cent of his liver to his father to save his life after he suffered from fibrosis, a newspaper said on Wednesday.
Nawaf Al Kanani said his father had been treated for liver cancer before suffering from fibrosis, adding that doctors decided to operate on his to save his life.
“I was tested positive as a donor… I donated 75 per cent of my liver to my father and I was willing to give all my liver to him,” he told Sabq newspaper after having the successful operation at the King Faisal Specialized Hospital in the capital Riyadh.
The paper quoted doctors as saying both the father and his son were improving and would be discharged from hospital soon.
