Britain’s Prince Philip has undergone a “minor procedure” to his right hand, Buckingham Palace’s press office said Wednesday.
In a statement, the palace told foreign media:
“The Duke of Edinburgh had a minor procedure carried out on his right hand [Tuesday]. The procedure was performed at Buckingham Palace, and the Duke will be wearing a bandage for protection.”
In recent years, the 93-year-old has undergone a series of operations, including the insertion of a stent in a coronary artery at Christmas 2011 and a procedure on his stomach that required a three-month convalescence.
The office would not elaborate on the nature of the procedure or what prompted it but said it has not prevented Queen Elizabeth II’s husband from undertaking any of his official engagements.
Prince Philip is 92.
