Railway services along the Northern Railway Line were delayed on Monday morning due to a technical failure.
According to the Railway Control Room, four train services were cancelled as a result of situation.The Railways Control Room says however that services have now returned to normal.
The Railway Control Room noted that the cancellations occurred due to a technical failure of a train between Polgahawela and Pothuhera Monday morning.
Railways superintendent, L.A.R. Rathnayake notes that the failure occurred when towing back one of the carriages which belonged to the train that met with an accident on April 30.
Train travel along the Northern Railway Line was restricted to Polgahawela from Colombo as a result of the technical failure.
The office trains that began from Kurunegala, Mahawa and Ganewatte were restricted to Pothuhera.
The Railway Control Room notes that buses were used to shuttle the passengers of these trains to the Polgahawela Railway Station. Railways operated as usual from Polgahawela to Colombo.
