Sirasa Vesak Zone on its third day: Thousands gather to pay homage to sacred relics

The exposition of the sacred relics of Lord Buddha as well as his chief disciples and other Maharahath Theros commenced at the Sirasa Vesak Kalapaya at 3 p.m. today.

Following special religious observances, the sacred relics of Sariyuth and Mugalan Maharath Theros were placed at the special shrine created at the Sirasa Vesak Kalapaya.

The ceremonies for the sacred relics were conducted by the Maha Sangha headed by Ven. Banagala Upatissa Nayaka Thero who is the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Mahabodhi Foundation.

Following the religious observances, the public was given the opportunity to pay homage to the relics.

Meanwhile, the exposition of the sacred relics of Lord Buddha which were brought from the historic Yatihalgala Rajamaha Viharaya also began on Friday afternoon following special religious observances.
