Police says the number of injured following a collision between two trains in Pothuhera has risen to 68
Director General of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, Dr. Palitha Yapa said that the condition of four of those injured is critical.
One of the individuals is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
A train plying from Vavuniya to Matara, the No. 86 Rajarata Rajini express train collided with the No. 17 Deyata Kirula intercity express train plying from Colombo fort to Pallai.
The collision occurred at around 08:45 on Wednesday morning.According to our correspondent, a special police team and special task force have been deployed to the area to ensure safety.
The reason for the accident is yet to be ascertained. The injured are currently receiving treatment at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.
