The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers may occur during Wednesday afternoon or night. The Deputy Director of the Met. Department added that rain of up to 100 millimetres can be expected in certain areas .

The highest rainfall starting from 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday has been reported from the Bandarawela area with the figure standing at 112.7 percent.

Furthermore, Kandy recorded a rainfall of 89.9 millimetres while the Puttalam recorded a rainfall of 86.2 millimetres.

The Ratmalana area recorded a rainfall of 79.2 millimetres while Colombo received a rainfall of 68.8. millimetres.

On Tuesday evening, several areas in the Horana and Colombo were inundated as a result of the intermittent showers. Inclement weather conditions resulted in heavy traffic congestion on Tuesday evening.
