A fishing vessel and a number of smaller boats docked at the Welipatanwila fishing yard in Amabalantota had caught fire.

According to the Police Media Unit, the fire erupted at 10 on Wednesday morning. Three fishing vessels and four fiber boats were destroyed by the fire.

Police stated that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The Hungama Police have commenced investigations in to the incident.
