One of Brazil’s leading news programmes aired footage of a woman apparently being robbed on camera while giving an interview about increased crime in the area.

A television crew from a TV  news programme stopped a passer-by to ask her if she thought there had been a rise in theft and other crime in the downtown Central do Brasil area of Rio.

Suddenly, in the middle of the televised interview, a young man appeared in view and attempted to snatch the woman’s necklace.

The reporter tried to chase the young man, but he escaped through the traffic of the congested area.

The woman was unharmed and the would-be-thief did not manage to get away with her jewelery.
