New Air Force Commander to be appointed

Air Force Commander Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrema met with the President before ending his term on Wednesday.

Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrema is due to retire from duty on Thursday.

Air Force Media Spokesperson, Air Commodore Andrew Wijesooriya stated that Air Vice Marshal Kolitha Gunathilake, the incumbent Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force,will be appointed the Commander with effect from February 28.

In other presidential news, Sisira De Abrew took oaths as the Acting President of the Court of Appeal before the President on Wednesday. He took his oaths before the President on Wednesday morning at Temple Trees.

The position was left vacant after the demise of Court of Appeal President, Sri Skandharajah

Sisira De Abrew who took his oaths on Wednesday as the Acting President of the Court of Appeal also serves as a court of appeals judge.

Meanwhile, the President inspected the Polduwa bridge that leads to Colombo from the Parliament round-about in Sri Jayawardenapura and the first phase of the newly constructed roadway.

The President then instructed the Minister and Secretary of the Ministry of Ports and Highways to declare the road open from that moment.
