At a media briefing convened on Wednesday, UNP Parliamentarian Dr. Harsha de Silva said that the government should explain reports that preparations are being made to arrest him.

He further stated,

“It has been stated on various websites today, that the Defence Secretary, has issued an order to the Head of State Intelligence, DIG Chandra Nimal Wakishta to take me into custody. It is stated on these websites that the reason for me to be arrested is that I informed the people that the Colombo Port City Project is being undertaken by the China Communication and Construction Company which has been banned by the World Bank.”

“I do not believe for an instance, that in a democratic nation, when an opposition parliamentarian places the truth before the people, it can be considered an action that incites the people. I expect that the government will explain whether these reports are true or false.”
