Minister of External Affairs, professor G.L. Pieris visited the construction site of the Shangri La Hotel in Hambantota in order to conduct inspections.
One hundred and Twenty (120) million USD is estimated to be invested on Shangri La Hotel which is a 5 star hotel project.
Parliamentarian, Namal Rajapaksa also took part in these inspections.
Speaking of the venture, Prof. G.L. Peiris said:
“There is a great significance in this project; this includes investment. Having a hotel chain like Shangri La trusting the future of Sri Lanka in their investment will establish confidence in others to invest here as well. Large numbers of job opportunities will be created through this. They have already sent employees from here to be trained in other countries. All the raw materials that will be used by the hotel are from this area -that why this is an important venture.”
