Several areas in Colombo are faced with a risk of an increase in the spread of Dengue. In order, to minimise the spread and in order eradicate Dengue the Ministry of Health has implemented a special programme that will commence from schools.
Speaking to Newsfirst, Specialist Dr. Hasitha Tissera of the Epidemiology Unit at the Ministry of Health said that this programme will be implemented in schools located in the major cities prone to Dengue. He went on to say that compared to 2012, there was a decline of 25 percent in the year 2013 in the number of Dengue patients being reported.
Specialist, Dr. Hasitha Tissera requested the public to maintain clean surroundings and to seek immediate medical assistance if fever persists for more than two days,
