Sri Lanka Cricket announced that Mahela Jayawardene was not considered for selection for the upcoming One Day International and Twenty20 series against Pakistan.
SLC also announced that spinner Rangana Herath has been rested for the Twenty20 series.
Sri Lanka’s upcoming tour against Pakistan to be played in the United Arab Emirates consists of two Twenty Internationals and a five-match ODI series.
Seekuge Prasanna and Kithruwan Vithanage have been included in the fourteen-man squad for the T20 series. Sri Lanka Cricket announced that Rangana Herath has been rested for the T20 series considering the excessive amount of cricket he played and the available matches for him in the run up to the 2015 World Cup.
Former Captain Mahela Jayawardene meanwhile was not considered for selection for the T20 and ODI series. Sri Lanka Cricket in a communique states that Mahela Jayawardene had requested leave for personal reasons.
Seekuge Prasanna and Kithruwan Vithanage have been included to the ODI side for the series against Pakistan while Ashan Priyanjana who was named in the squad for the New Zealand series has been excluded.
