Two persons died in a motor accident in the Warallana area in Seenigama in Hikkaduwa. According to the police, two persons traveling in a motorcycle had met with this untimely death at dawn on Monday.
A vehicle had hit the motorcycle from behind and fled the scene. The victims aged 30 and 50 were residents of the Ahungalla area. Their remains have been placed at the Karapitiya Hospital.
Meanwhile, a collision involving two buses in the Imbulgasdeniya area in Kegalle has left twenty four persons injured. A bus carrying garment factory workers had collided with a stationary private bus this morning. A spokesperson at the Polgahawela District Hospital said five of the injured have been transferred to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.
