Two people were killed in separate road accidents reported today.
 
One person was killed when a tipper plying from Welimada to Badulla, veered off the road and toppled into the Uma Oya in the Puhulpola area in Welimada on Saturday night.
 
 Police say that the driver had lost control of the vehicle. A father and son duo had been traveling in the tipper when tragedy struck.The duo were admitted to the Welimada hospital for treatment.
 
The son who was in critical condition was pronounced dead after being admitted to the Badulla General Hospital.The deceased has been identified as twenty-year-old R.M. Pubudu Madushanka, a resident of Pahalakotawara, Welimada.
 
A motorcyclist was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car in the Udamalala area in Hambantota at about 7 a.m. on Sunday. Police Media Spokesperson SSP AJith Rohana said the car plying from Hambantota to Tissamaharama had collided with the motorcycle which was travelling in front.
 
The pillion-rider of the motorcycle is receiving treatment at the ICU of the Hambantota Base Hospital.
 
The deceased has been identified as fifty-five-year-old W.P. Premadasa, a father of three from the Molakepupathana area in Tissamaharama.
 
Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said the driver of the car which belongs to UPFA MP Roshan Ranasinghe, was arrested and the vehicle impounded.
