The University Grants Commission has turned their attention towards reducing the time taken to enroll  students following the completion of the Advanced Level Examination.
Chairman of the commission, Professor Kshanika Hiriburegama notes that a committee has been appointed to look into the possibility of reducing the time taken by the commission. Professor Hiriburegama noted that students need to wait for nearly a year after completing their Advanced Level Examination in order to enter university.
The committee which will reach a decision includes the Deputy Chairman of the UGC, other officials of the UGC, several vice chancellors and officials of the examinations department.
The committee will officially begin work in December. Professor Hiriburegama added that their aim should be to begin enrolling students to universities in 2014, five to six months after completing their Advanced Level Examinations.
