Preparations complete for CHOGM 2013

All preparations have been made for the 2013 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, which is being held under the theme, Growth with Equity, Inclusive Development.
Several programmes and events that will precede CHOGM 2013 are due to commence from Sunday. The 2013 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting comprises of a business forum, youth forum and people’s forum, in addition to the Heads of Government Meeting which will be held in Colombo.
The opening ceremony of CHOGM 2013 will be held at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo on November 15. 
Britain’s Prince Charles, President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Secretary General of the Commonwealth and the Australian Prime Minister are due to address the gathering at the opening ceremony which has been scheduled for one hour fifteen minutes.
The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting will be held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. A media centre, complete with technological facilities, has also been established at the BMICH. The Commonwealth Youth Forum will commence on Sunday at the Ruhunu Magampura International Conference Centre.
The Business Forum will be held from November 12-14 in Colombo. The Commonwealth People’s Forum will commence the day after tomorrow in Hikkaduwa. A special traffic plan is also being implemented for the duration of CHOGM 2013.
A number of roads including the Colombo – Katunayake Expressway will be closed intermittently from November 9 – 15  and from November 16 – 18; the dates on which the heads of state are scheduled to arrive and depart from the country. The police also note that on November 15, the traffic flow on several roads in Colombo will be limited, owing to the arrival of Heads of State for the summit.
