July 31, 2010: Both the postal employees and the public are inconvenienced due to a shortage of stamp covers in the island, says Secretary of the Sri Lanka Posts and Telecommunications Services Union, Chinthaka Bandara.
He noted that due to the shortage the government as well as the Postal Department are incurring a massive loss.
Bandara went on to say that even through the subject Minister Jeewan Kumarathunga and the Post Master General had been informed about the matter, they were yet to receive a response.
When contacted the Post Master General M. K. B. Dissanayake said that measures were underway to overcome the shortage of postal covers in the Island.
