July 30, 2010: Minister of Education, Bandula Gunawardena says that due to teachers not being placed properly, a deficit has arisen in remote areas.
He noted that there was a surplus of teachers in schools in city areas.
“By effecting the teachers transfer policy, the shortage of teachers in rural areas would be addressed,” he said.
Accordingly teachers who have served six years at the same school will become eligible for a transfer.
