July 22, 2010: Garbage disposal has become a major challenge in the country today especially in the light of the numerous diseases that are spreading.
However, Newsfirst stumbled upon an innovative device manufactured by a person in Kegalle, where degradable garbage is turned into bio-gas.
The inventor of this device, which has been hailed as an ideal means of converting certain degradable garbage items into bio gas, is N. W. Ananda Withana of Yatiyanthota.
“This machine has a number of uses and it can be easily cleaned. In addition, if there is access gas, it could be stored for use later.
“The production of gas takes place maintaining the temperature and other aspects under proper control automatically. That way, it could be operated non-stop,” said Ananda.
He said that once all raw materials are fed into the machine, Methane gas could be produced within four days.
He also pointed out that so far there was no proper solution for the garbage disposal problem.
“My aim is to create massive machines that can do away with garbage and rake in a revenue, commencing at Pradeshiya Sabha level to Urban Council level and to Municipal Council level,” said Ananda.
