CID Arrests ‘Konda Ranjith’ at BIA Following UAE Deportation

COLOMBO (News 1st); An alleged organized crime figure, Ranjith Kumara, better known as “Konda Ranjith,” has been arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The arrest was made after Konda Ranjith was deported to Sri Lanka from Dubai, where he had previously been taken into custody by authorities.

CID officers arrested the suspect upon his arrival in the country today (9) following his deportation.

Police allege that Konda Ranjith functioned as a key associate of organized crime figure Ganemulla Sanjeewa and has been linked to a number of criminal activities, including assaults, intimidation and several shooting incidents targeting residences.

According to Police, Konda Ranjith had previously been arrested on 12 separate occasions in connection with various criminal investigations.
