Digital System To Speed Up Attorney General’s Case Reviews

COLOMBO (News 1st): Plans are underway to speed up the process of seeking advice using a digital system to review case files where Attorney General advice has been delayed.

Police stated that close coordination is being maintained with the Attorney General's Department in this regard.

For the years 2025–2026, a total of 3,165 case files were referred for Attorney General advice.

Police mentioned that Attorney General advice has been received for 2,871 of those files.

This accounts for 90.71% of the total case files.

Attorney General advice is yet to be received for another 294 case files.

Police stated that this represents a percentage of 9.3%.
