COLOMBO (News1st); Police said that a locally manufactured revolver has been recovered based on information revealed by the organized criminal figure Dimuthu Chatura, alias "Summitpura Chatu," who is currently in police custody.
Police stated that the firearm was found concealed inside an abandoned house in Sedawatta , Wellampitiya.
Dimuthu Chatura, alias “Summitpura Chatu,” an organized criminal against whom a Red Notice had been issued, had fled the country and was hiding in Oman.
He was brought back to Sri Lanka on the 18th of August.
The 28-year-old Summitpura Chathu is a resident of Mattakkuliya .
He faces charges including aiding and abetting the assassination of organized criminal Ganemulla Sanjeewa, as well as several other serious offences, including possession of a hand grenade and drug trafficking.
He had fled to Oman on March 22, 2025, using a fake passport.
