COLOMBO (News 1st): A Sri Lankan national has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake with a consignment of ‘Kush’ cannabis worth Rs. 14.8 million.
The arrest was made by officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau.
The suspect, who had arrived in Sri Lanka from Bangkok, Thailand, was taken into custody at the airport.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had concealed the drugs by mechanically shaping them into sausage-like capsules, coating them with chocolate, and packaging them before transporting them into the country.
The seized consignment weighed 1 kilogram and 480 grams.
The arrested individual is a 24-year-old resident of Monaragala.
