COLOMBO (News 1st) - Surge of Dengue cases have been reported as intermittent rainfall has created ideal conditions for mosquito breeding in the environment.
So far 25,846 Dengue cases have been reported this year with the death toll reaching 12.
The deaths include two children under the age of 12.
Accordingly, the National Dengue Control Unit of Sri Lanka (NDCU) announced that special Dengue eradication programs will be implemented in high-risk zones starting tomorrow.
Dr. Prashila Samaraweera, a Consultant Specialist at the National Dengue Control Unit stated that the dengue eradication programs will specifically focus on the Colombo, Gampaha, and Galle districts.
