Ex‑Intelligence Chief Seeks Court Relief Over PTA Detention

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), Retired Major General Suresh Salley, has filed a writ petition before the Court of Appeal through his attorneys, challenging his arrest and detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

The petition contests the actions of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which arrested and detained him under the provisions of the PTA.

Several respondents have been named in the application, including Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department Shani Abeysekara, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security Ravi Seneviratne, Reverend Father Rohan Silva, and the Attorney General, among others.
