Plans Underway to Resume MiddleEast Flights Via Limited AirSpaces, Says Minister

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Ports and Civil Aviation Authority Minister Anura Karunatilake says that efforts are underway to commence flight operations through airspaces that are currently open on a limited basis.

Minister Karunatilake shared these updates during an interview with News 1st.

According to the Minister, limited airspaces have been opened via Oman, Saudi Arabia. 

Airspaces above Iran, Sharjah, Abu Dabi and Dubai have been completely closed. 

Accordingly, discussions are underway to utilize the limited airspaces that are currently open to resume operations for other countries, especially for the connecting flights for the USA and Europe with the respective authorities with countries with limited airspaces. 

Additionally Minister noted that, direct flights to England have been resumed at present.
