At Davos 2026, IMF Reaffirms Commitment to Sri Lanka’s Economic Comeback

COLOMBO (News 1st): The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reiterated its strong commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s economic recovery, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva told Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya during a meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

The discussion took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2026, where the IMF Chief commended Sri Lanka and its people for demonstrating remarkable resilience following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

Georgieva assured that the Fund will continue to stand by Sri Lanka as it navigates its economic stabilisation and recovery efforts.
