Court Blocks Suspension of Zohara’s SLMC Membership

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo District Court issued an interim order temporarily preventing the implementation of a letter issued by the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) suspending the party membership of Colombo Municipal Councillor Zohara Buhary.

The SLMC had suspended her membership citing her decision to vote in favor of the Colombo Municipal Council budget during the recent budget vote, which the party claimed was against its stance.

The court issued the order after considering a request made by Zohara Buhary to nullify the suspension letter.
