COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s wildlife attractions are drawing more crowds than ever.
The Department of National Zoological Gardens reports a 5% increase in visitors to national parks this year compared to 2024, signaling renewed public interest in nature and conservation.
According to Director General Chandana Rajapaksha, the growth reflects strong domestic and international engagement: “By September this year, visitor numbers rose from 1.8 million last year to 1.9 million—a 5% increase. Domestic visitors grew by 4%, while foreign arrivals surged by 22%.”
