Claiming to Be DIG’s Sister: Woman Back In Remand

COLOMBO (News 1st); A woman who was arrested for obstructing police duties in Udugampola has been remanded until November 10, following her appearance before the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.

The suspect was taken into custody on multiple charges, including reckless driving, ignoring police signals, posing as another individual, and engaging in disorderly conduct. She was also accused of verbally abusing police officers and falsely claiming to be the sister of a Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police.

A video of the incident, showing the suspect behaving aggressively and making the false claim, has since circulated widely on social media.

Police stated that the woman was initially remanded until today, and following her court appearance, the magistrate extended her remand until November 10 to allow for further investigation.
