COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s rising racing star, Yevan David, has made history by securing the Rookie Championship title in the 2025 Euro Formula Open Championship. Competing in the final leg of the season at the legendary Monza circuit, Yevan showcased remarkable skill and determination, finishing second in Round 2 of the Monza stage and confirming his overall second-place finish in the championship standings.
The Monza stage, consisting of three rounds with today’s race being the decisive final, saw Yevan narrowly miss out on victory by just one thousandth of a second in an epic battle with Poland’s Dymek Kicharczck, who secured the championship title regardless of the outcome of the final race.

Last year, Yevan captured attention with a memorable victory in a rain-soaked race at Monza, and he has continued to impress with consistent podium finishes throughout the 2025 season.
Despite the final race scheduled for today, Yevan’s position remains secure ahead of Korea’s Michael Shin, confirming his status as one of the continent’s most promising young talents.
This milestone victory not only elevates Yevan David’s profile but also shines a spotlight on Sri Lanka’s growing presence in international motorsport. As Yevan gears up for the final race, fans and experts alike look forward to witnessing the continued rise of Sri Lanka’s trailblazing talent on the global racing stage.
