COLOMBO (News 1st); Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya will undertake her first official visit to India from October 16 to 18, marking a significant diplomatic engagement since assuming office.
The visit underscores the deep and multi-faceted ties between the two nations and aligns with India’s Neighbourhood First policy and MAHASAGAR Vision, said the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
During her three-day stay, the Sri Lankan Premier is scheduled to meet Indian political leaders to discuss key bilateral issues of mutual interest.
The Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Dr. Amarasuirya will meet with Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. The visit will also feature a strong focus on education, technology, and economic cooperation.
Dr. Amarasuriya will deliver the keynote address at the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi, organized by NDTV and the Chintan Research Foundation.
As Sri Lanka’s Education Minister, she will visit the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and NITI Aayog to explore collaborative opportunities in education and technology. The Prime Minister, an alumna of Hindu College of Delhi University, will also revisit her alma mater during the trip.
In addition, she will participate in a business event aimed at strengthening commercial linkages between India and Sri Lanka, reinforcing economic cooperation alongside cultural and educational ties.
