The Colombo High Court has scheduled the trial against former Minister Mervyn Silva to begin on November 17, in connection with a high-profile corruption case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The case, taken up before High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal, alleges that Silva unlawfully acquired assets valued at approximately Rs. 150 million during his tenure as a government minister between 2010 and 2012.

During today’s proceedings, the prosecution informed the court that all preliminary inquiries had been completed.

They also submitted additional documents to the defense counsel and requested that a formal trial date be set.

The court, agreeing with the request, fixed November 17 as the commencement date for the full trial.
