Strike Disrupts Universities Across Sri Lanka—Exams Postponed, Lectures Cancelled

COLOMBO (News 1st);  University operations across Sri Lanka have been severely disrupted today (20) due to a one-day strike launched by non-academic staff.

The strike has impacted both universities and higher education institutions, forcing the postponement of scheduled lectures and examinations.

University authorities confirmed that all academic activities planned for the day have been deferred, citing the inability to proceed without essential support services.

The strike was initiated in protest over unresolved issues, including the failure to provide budgetary relief and the lack of engagement from authorities to discuss longstanding grievances.
