COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has suspended its planned nationwide strike, which was scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM today (11), following productive discussions with the Minister of Health.
The strike was initially organized in response to several unresolved demands, including concerns over the transfer process of medical officers.
However, the GMOA’s executive committee stated that the Health Minister provided positive and constructive responses during the negotiations, prompting the union to temporarily halt the industrial action.
The GMOA further announced that it will closely monitor the outcomes of the discussions before deciding on future steps.
In a related development, the association has advised rural health officers not to apply for positions listed in the recently published post-internship placement list, which was released without proper consultation.
