MP’s Daughter Wanted: Police Launch Manhunt Over Illegal Jeep Import

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan police have issued a warning that the assets of Parliamentarian Rohitha Abeygunawardena’s daughter may be frozen if she fails to surrender within the coming days.

Authorities revealed that several locations believed to be housing the MP’s daughter and her husband were searched, but the couple was not found at any of the sites.

The pair is wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation into the illegal importation and assembly of a Jeep vehicle. Police have indicated that arrest warrants have been issued for both individuals.

This case is linked to the recent arrest of the son of MP Jagath Withana, who is currently in remand custody over similar allegations.
